Monterey 2.0.3 Beta Released

I have some good news and some bad news!  First off, I have finally released Monterey 2.0.3 Beta for Windows.  The bad news is that the OSX release is going to lag behind a bit.  I am currently developing on OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion, so I will need to look into testing on Lion and Snow Leopard machines.  One person already alerted me to the crash on OSX Leopard, so I think I was able to change the update alert before too many people downloaded the new version.

Thanks!

Chris

  1. Your program look really interesting. I'm trying to learn more about programming and are really interesting in to try out your rov-program. The only problem is that I use linux(ubuntu) is it possible to run you program in linux?

    Thanks

    1. Thanks! Yup! Ubuntu is supported. Run "sudo apt-get install sdl-1.2.15" (I think, google how to install SDL). That will install the SDL libraries. Then run "sudo apt-get install qtcreator" to install the Qt libraries and build tools. Download the source from the Git repo (can be found at the Sourceforge.net/projects/rov-suite page). Then just use Qt to build it! Let me know if you have any issues in the build process (It will work on Linux, but I may need to adjust some file paths or something).

    2. Okay. To install SDL on Kubuntu, I had to execute "sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2-dev". That'll install SDL. I have to make a small change for Linux compilation and then I'll push that update to the repo on SourceForge.

    1. Hey Albert,

I haven't been able to look into that bug on the OSX version yet. School work (college apps in particular) have been really time consuming. Which version of OSX are you on? I know for sure that it works on 10.8.X. You can find the Windows version here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/rov-suite/files/Monterey/2.0.3Beta/
I'm glad to hear it! Any pictures to share?

    1. Hey Al,

Sorry about all of these troubles! On Mac, did you install SDL first? Download and install it from http://www.libsdl.org/release/SDL-1.2.15.dmg first. That should hopefully fix that issue. As far as Windows goes, I'll have to look at my download file for that and do some tests. I wonder if I accidentally copied the wrong DLL versions into the download archive...

    1. Hmm... I'll take a look at the changes between those version when I get the chance. Are there any crash logs you can send me?

6 thrusters are supported in a 4-horizontal and 2-vertical arrangement in Monterey. Is that what you where thinking? Also, 2-horizontal and 4-vertical should be supported as well.

    4. Al,

Thanks! Those crash reports help out a lot! It looks like SDL wasn't totally installed because Monterey couldn't find it. Are you sure you installed it properly? I'll have to check to make sure that I link to it properly, too.

I'll have to look into that, but it looks like I may have packaged the wrong DLL. Sorry!

      Chris
